Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. saw a rise in the U.S. search market in March, the latest research from comScore, out yesterday, has found.
After months of declines, Google’s share of the market grew to 65.7 percent in March, up from 65.4 percent in February. Microsoft sites were also up, at 13.9 percent in March, up from 13.6 percent in February.
Yahoo’s search market is now at 15.7 percent, down from 16.1 percent in February, the rankings showed. paidContent pointed out that Yahoo’s reach was at 20.1 percent prior to Microsoft’s launch of Bing. So far, Bing hasn’t hurt Google, which was at 65 percent before the search engine launched.
However, separate data from Experian Hitwise, released Monday, showed that Google claimed 64.42 percent of the U.S. search market in March, compared to 66.69 percent in February, according to Search Engine Land.
Hitwise also reported that Bing was at 30.01 percent in March, up from 28.48 percent in February, and Yahoo was at 15.69 percent in March, up from 14.99 percent in February.
