Mobile, tablet usage growing steeply globally

Smartphone and tablet usage are growing exponentially around the world.  Although smartphone usage is growing across age groups, it’s not surprising that younger people use them the most. Eighty percent of 18-to 24-year-olds, and 79 percent of 25-to 34-year-olds own smartphones. Meanwhile, the 65+ age group has the lowest smartphone penetration in developed countries, at 34 percent, according to Deloitte’s 2013 Global Mobile Consumer Survey.

World Newsmedia Network has published Global Digital Media Trendbook each year since 2006. The 2014 trendbook contains 500 data sets and 230 pages of analysis about digital media usage and revenue patterns, including this data set. To download the GDMT free executive summary, go to www.wnmn.org
