Mobile video dominates mobile data traffic
Video
usage across platforms is the fastest growing digital media usage
segment around the world. Video also the media genre that consumes the
most bandwidth, compared to text, photos, infographics
and audio. The mobile and PC platforms are the conduits by which this
data is transmitted for the foreseeable future, followed by tablets.
Mobile
video will continue to represent the majority of mobile data traffic in
2017, at a projected 66.5 percent of all mobile data used, according to
the Cisco VNI Mobile Forecast 2013. Mobile web data will follow
distantly at 24.9 percent, mobile machine-to-machine at 5.1 percent and mobile file sharing at 3.5 percent, according to the report.
